Building Regulations

What are Building Regulations?
Building Regulations are the rules which set the minimum standard for building work and are administered by Building Control at the Local Authority. Most building works require a Building Regulation Application ensuring that the works meet local authority approval.
As with Planning Permission, the application consists of forms, drawings and any structural calculations. The drawings required are more detailed than those with planning applications and show materials, dimensions, construction details etc.
Once approval has been granted, inspections are made by Building Control during various stages of construction to ensure that the work is carried out to the regulations.
